Overall Scope of Repair and Overaul Work

To the extent possible, ASD follows a zone-oriented approach to overhaul and repair work. This approach facilitates the planning, scheduling, execution and testing of jobs in the manner that they will actually be performed across system and trade boundaries.

A zone can be a compartment on the vessel, a group of compartments, a system, a group of systems, or a prefabricated unit being built in the shop. Creating zones is a convenient way for ASD to aggregate tasks in the most appropriate manner at any given stage of the job.

The zone concept allows task grouping, resources allocation, and interdependency decisions to be made earlier and from a project wide perspective.
